Village History

Long ago, there lived a brave knight named Sir Griffith Dawnwatch. He was the head of the Dawnwatch family and Captain of the Knights. For his great deeds, the king rewarded him with land and a fine title. Among all the lands he received, there was one place that Lord Dawnwatch loved most of all. He decided to settle there with his family, becoming both the landowner and mayor, and founded a village.

At first, the village was called Dawnwatch Village, after the family name. But Lord Dawnwatch wanted something warmer and more welcoming—a name that invited all kinds of folk to live side by side. And so, the village came to be known as Little Nests.

The region is famous for its endless winter snows and beautiful white landscape. People also called it by the old name “Frost Oakbury” Though the winters are long and cold, the soil is rich and good. Each autumn brings harvests as plentiful as anywhere in the realm! The autumn apples and pumpkins became especially renowned for their wonderful flavor. The Dawnwatch family worked hard to craft local specialties from them. To this day, Apple Cider and Pumpkin Pie are Little Nests’ most beloved local foods.

Lord Dawnwatch’s village policy was notably generous and kind. He welcomed residents of many different kinds and callings to make their homes in Little Nests. In those days, when such openness was quite rare, this spirit alone made Little Nests a special place.

Being a cold region, keeping warm through winter was very important. Every year, from early autumn, the village prepared timber and coal. Before the deep freeze set in, Lord Dawnwatch made sure all the houses and buildings were strengthened and ready to keep everyone cozy and warm through the long winter.

Today, stewardship has passed to Arthur Dawnwatch, the grandson of Griffith Dawnwatch. He serves as both head of the family and mayor. Though the village is smaller than in days past, all the villagers work together as neighbours helping neighbours, doing their best to keep Little Nests alive and well.
